This April, the Sprout Gallery is proud to feature art by RI native, Jason Hamel. Jason is a quadriplegic with an inspiring story.

For most of his teen years, Jason pushed himself to his physical limits in the competitive sport of BMX bike racing. Until one day it was all cut short by a devastating fall that left him paralyzed from his shoulders down. However, he did not let this tragedy stop him from finding strength and happiness through staying grateful despite his condition.

Just 6 months after his fall, Jason enrolled in CCRI to study Fine Arts and later graduated from Rhode Island College with a degree in Graphic Design. He now enjoys new success as an artist.

Jason’s work will be featured at Sprout throughout the month of April and on Open Gallery Night, April 19 from 5pm-8pm, as part of Gallery Night Providence. All proceeds raised from the sale of his art will go towards purchasing a new handicap accessible van.
