September 2020 Virtual Gallery: Jovani Delgado / Rhode Island Threads

This fall the Galleries at Sprout CoWorking in Providence and Warren, RI will be open weekdays 9-12 for visitors to view the work of local artists in person. The current Providence show will also be featured as part of the September Gallery Night Providence virtual event.

Providence

The Gallery at Sprout Providence (166 Valley Street, Bldg 6M) is presenting an impressive exhibit of paintings from 13-year-old Jovani Delgado. Jovani, a student at Goff Middle School and life-long artist, hopes to inspire other teens to explore their creative talents. Jovani made his first painting only a few months ago during the beginning of the pandemic. He decided that he loved painting because it offered him the opportunity to be more expressive, stay busy and distracted from everything that’s going on in the world. Jovani hopes that his work can really make a difference.

Tune in below for an interview with the artist from the September 17th Virtual Gallery Night on Facebook. For more online programming and tours of Providence’s many art galleries, please visit Gallery Night Providence’s website.

Warren

The Gallery at Sprout in Warren (489 Main Street) is featuring quilt works by Rhode Island Threads, a local fiber art group who use fabric, thread, paint and other mixed media to create works of art. They challenge each other by practicing skills, learning new techniques and supporting each other with respectful critique and a shared love of the art form. View more of the group’s quilt artwork in our August art blog, and check out a video tour of the show here: https://gopro.com/v/KRXEqL8Z1lGQG.
